In the back end, our application was consuming a series of SQL queries to list the complete details of each product in our e-commerce business. This data could be found across the company and after many queries it was getting really crowded. It could not fit in the database and this would result in data loss and system failure.

We tried multiple techniques to improve the data storage and optimizations and tried changing the format of the data stored in the database. But none of the changes could save us.

It was a time when we needed some valuable details and we had to make a decision to either upgrade our existing database or make a new one. We decided to go for the first.

We had to read in a couple of different things, then copy them over, and then we were done. There were some problems such as low internet speed and there was always the question of latency.
