In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, live-streaming has become a greater part of our daily lives than ever thanks to things like Skype meetings, Zoom Hangouts, and the suddenly overflowing menu of live on Instagram. But Taika Waititi is the only one who can truly raise the stakes. The director used Instagram this evening for a "live-watch of Thor: Ragnarok." When I say "live-watch of Thor: Ragnarok," know that I'm pressing the quotation marks extremely hard because Waititi brought two hours of his trademark crazy energy to the live-stream and did pretty much everything but watch the damn movie.
Waititi's watch party was hilarious from beginning to end, from choosing fresh rosemary for his rack of lamb to sneaking in some visual humour via mock scripts to exchanging dad jokes with Marc Ruffalo. While Waititi only spoke briefly about Thor, he did mention the upcoming sequel Thor: Love and Thunder when he introduced his first special guest, Tessa Thompson, who played the character.

Love and Thunder:
In Love and Thunder, Thompson, who will reprise her role as Valkyrie (current King of Asgard, tyvm), admitted she hadn't seen the most recent draught of the script. The script had gone through five or more draughts, according to Waititi, who informed the woman,
It's now so extravagant in the greatest way possible. It gives Ragnarok the impression of being a pretty safe, everyday movie. This new movie has the impression that everything was agreed upon after asking a group of 10-year-olds what should be in a movie.
Waititi also teased two very exciting words:
For lovers of Marvel's cosmic branch turning strange, Waititi also teased two very exciting words: space sharks. You can get an idea by looking up space sharks, said Waititi. Now. Taika Waititi is speaking here, and he unquestionably brings his trademark crazy energy to the chat. He also occasionally says things just for laughs. However, I sure hope this one is accurate since, yes, there have been space sharks (also known as Starsharks) in comic books before, and that would definitely be the case if it were real.
Visual Humour:
Apart from those titbits (including the amusing visual humour of a mock screenplay that contained the phrase "TONY: Everyone who died is back and we're Avenging more than ever"), nothing else. Waititi didn't have much to say about Love and Thunder, but he did mention the lack of clarity surrounding the future of the movie given that filming and production had temporarily been put on hold in Australia.
When asked if "Fat Thor" from Endgame would return in Love and Thunder, Waititi replied that he wasn't sure but felt that "it's been done." Beta Ray Bill? He suggested not to anticipate the Silver Surfer appearing in the movie. "I'd adore Beta Ray Bill, but things are a little hazy right now," the speaker said. Waititi remained silent regarding Christian Bale's part and whether or not fans may expect to see more of Loki.
More Korg was teased, perhaps more than you ever wanted to know about Korg, as well. "We do discuss Korg's — how can I put this? — cultural. Several of the cultural quirks unique to Kronans, where he is from There is information about how they reproduce in the comics, if you look.
Great Deal:
Thus, that is. There is also a great deal more. Again, there isn't much information on Thor, but Waititi's livestream is so full of happiness and good/funny vibes, and my goodness, we all need that right now. Do I find the prospect of space sharks exciting? Yes, of course. However, I actually needed to watch Taika Waititi and Mark Ruffalo make goofy split-screen faces. So please accept our gratitude for this tiny ray of brightness in these gloomy times from Waititi and his guests.
